Kusadasi
Kusadasi is a lively, vibrant town. Kusadasi is a very popular resort with an international clientelle.
To the north of the town are two huge waterparks, ideal for family holidays and several superb 5 star hotels. In the centre of the town is the large yacht marina and further down the bay is the famous cruise liner stop with ships visiting from all over Europe. Kusadasi has much of what you would expect in a thriving tourist town: good bars, restaurants and excellent shops and beaches suitable for bathing and watersports.
To the south of the City is the popular Ladies Beach, a wonderful stretch of beach, popular with sunbathers and water sports fans.
Kusadasi is busy in summer with a great variety of places to stay. Kusadasi means ‘Bird Island’ and takes its name from a small island connected to the mainland.
Within a few miles of Kusadasi is the must see magnificant ancient City of Ephesus, known as the best-preserved classical city in the Eastern Mediterranean which is a major tourist destination and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Historically the centre for the cults of Artemis under the Ionians, and Diana under the Romans, it boasts a magnificent theatre which in modern times has hosted top international performers as part of the Ephesus Festival and the International Izmir Festival.
The main tourist season runs from April to October. The resident population of 50,000 swells to half a million during peak season. During the peak season its palm lined boulevards become a bustling, lively and cosmopolitan.
Kusadasi is a approximately one hour from Izmir international airport, which is served by scheduled flights from the UK. A bus from the airport goes direct to Kusadasi. Its location is further improved by the summer ferry crossings to the Greek island of Samos.
